Nestled in one of California’s most famous and desirable enclaves in Palm Desert, the Andreas Canyon Residence is a family retreat highlighted by crisp vertical and horizontal contemporary elements. Unfolding across a sculptural landscape of indigenous rock, plantings and water the design is the integration of natural elements both indoor and outdoors, and all spaces in-between. Portions of the home are buried within the natural hillside exposing bare rock on the inside, while other architectural forms cantilever out over the rocky landscape. Water flows throughout the house extending to an infinity edge pool that creates a fluid horizon line to the golf course beyond. A flying roof over the main entertaining spaces mimic the rising and falling rhythm of the surrounding mountains.
