we are thinkers
We are many things: creators, experimenters, collaborators, mothers, fathers, dancers, surfers, artists and all around explorers of our world, but when it comes to our work, we start as thinkers. Great design, after all, is about using thought to arrive at a solution, instead of just hoping things work out. In other words, design is about bringing intention to our worlds: asking ourselves, “what are the qualities we want in our daily lives” and then finding a way to manifest those qualities in whatever we are designing, whether it’s something as substantial as a home or as subtle as the shape and color of a logo.
Now, before you get the wrong idea, we believe that all good thinking has a powerful element of feeling gathered up in it. The best design isn’t entirely rational - there’s wit and surprise in it. You need to use everything you’ve got - your heart and your gut and, especially, your ears.
So that’s what we do. We listen. We think and experiment. Then we listen some more. And in the end we strive for something that is both exactly what was asked for and more than ever could’ve been imagined.
what we do
KAA is an integrated design
firm. So, what does that
mean?
Integrated Design is a collaborative design methodology emphasizing the integration of knowledge and expertise in the development of a complete experience. The integrated design process requires multidisciplinary collaboration with key stakeholders and design professionals, who are committed to inquiry and advocacy, from conception to completion. Decision-making protocols, complementary design principles, and a unified vision support the opportunity to dream without boundaries, while creating sustainable, enduring design solutions.
We are
experts in architecture, landscape design, interior design, product design and
branding, but we see these areas as unified by a simple common language - the
language of design. When you think of design this way, the distinctions between
disciplines become less rigid - they are just different avenues for using design
to communicate the central vision of a project.
